The first is diet. Eating a balanced diet of whole, unprocessed foods is the way to properly nourish your entire system. Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, wild fish rather than farmed, and organically fed chicken are ideal. Avoiding fried foods, sautéing your vegetables lightly in good cooking oils such as coconut or olive, steaming whenever possible, and baking or broiling your fish and chicken is the best preparation. Avoiding red meat if possible will help you maintain a healthy heart. Low-fat cheese, especially goat cheese, is a good way to keep cholesterol down while getting appropriate amounts of calcium.
The second is attending to your body through regular exercise. Staying fit is essential for keeping weight down, blood and oxygen flowing, and maintaining a good mental attitude. Psychologically, we always feel better when we’ve done something active. Physically, we are doing our bodies a huge favor as exercise helps to regulate the circulatory, respiratory, neurological, and digestive systems.
The third is making sure that blockages are removed from the body so that energy can properly flow. When energy, or Qi, is not functioning well, pain and illness often occurs. We all suffer from blockages to a greater or lesser degree, especially given our stressful lives. Fortunately, there are many protocols that help to manage the flow of Qi.
